Title: CRUISE CONTROL: DYNAMIC LASER CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM: DESCRIPTION (2008 Sequoia)

DTC

P1570

Radar Sensor Malfunction

DTC

P1572

Improper Aiming of Radar Sensor Beam Axis

DESCRIPTION

The laser radar sensor emits laser beams towards an object in front and measures the distance and direction of the object by receiving the beam reflections. Based on the reflections, the sensor calculates the difference in speed between your own vehicle and an object in front. This data is transmitted to the distance control ECU.

DTC No.

DTC Detection Condition

Trouble Area

P1570

The ECM detects a laser radar sensor malfunction signal for 0.15 seconds or more while the dynamic laser cruise control is in operation

Laser radar sensor

P1572

The ECU detects that the laser radar sensor beam axis is in an incorrect position (0.15 seconds or more) while the dynamic laser cruise control is in operation

Laser radar sensor

The laser radar sensor monitors the laser emission and reception by itself. P1570 is detected when it cannot monitor. When rain drops or snowflakes strike the laser radar sensor face, the distance between the vehicle in front and your own vehicle cannot be measured correctly. The dynamic laser cruise control system functions by detecting the reflector of the vehicle directly in front. In the following cases, the system may not be able to detect the vehicle in front and may not properly maintain the correct vehicle-to-vehicle distance:

  • The vehicle in front is a tall trailer.
  • The back of the vehicle in front is extremely dirty.
  • Exhaust emissions from the vehicle in front or vehicles in other lanes are unusually thick.
  • The vehicle in front has no reflective surface.
  • The laser radar sensor is receiving strong light (sunlight, etc. )

P1572 is output when the scanning angle of the laser radar sensor is incorrect. P1572 is also output when the laser radar sensor beam axis is determined to be in an incorrect position

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:

When the laser radar sensor is replaced with a new one, adjustment of the laser radar sensor beam axis must be performed CRUISE CONTROL: LASER SENSOR: ADJUSTMENT (2008 Sequoia) .

PROCEDURE

1.

ADJUST LASER RADAR SENSOR

(a) Adjust laser radar sensor CRUISE CONTROL: LASER SENSOR: ADJUSTMENT (2008 Sequoia) .

HINT:

It is necessary to make the ECM recognize specification information (whether the vehicle is equipped with the dynamic laser cruise control system or not). When this procedure has not been carried out, this DTC may be output.

NEXT

2.

CLEAR DTC

(a) Clear the DTC CRUISE CONTROL: DYNAMIC LASER CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR (2008 Sequoia) .

NEXT

3.

CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Reproduce the DTC detection conditions under which the DTC is stored.

HINT:

If the DTC detection conditions are not correct, the system will not detect the trouble.

(b) Drive the vehicle at a speed of 45 km/h (28 mph) or more and turn the cruise control main switch ON. Push the -SET switch to activate the cruise control system.

(c) Check for DTCs CRUISE CONTROL: DYNAMIC LASER CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR (2008 Sequoia) .

OK:

DTC is not output.
